Baltimore City Police Department

According to the city of Baltimore website the mission of the Baltimore City Police Department is: "To protect and preserve life and property; to understand and serve the needs of the City's neighborhoods; and to improve the quality of life by maintaining order, recognizing and resolving community problems, and apprehending criminals."
The duties of a patrol officer in Baltimore include: conducting investigations, making arrests, testifying in court, responding to calls, writing reports, and completing forms.
The city of Baltimore has nine police districts: Northwest, North, Northeast, Southwest, West, Central, East, Southeast, and South. Each district is supervised by a District Commander who is a officer the rank of Major.
Each district is then broken down into Sectors. Each district has about three to four Sectors supervised by a officer the rank of Sergeant.
Each sector is then broken down into Posts. Each Sector has about four to six Posts supervised by an individual police officer.
Most districts have four functional elements: Motorized Patrol, Neighborhood Operations, Headquarters and Services, and Drug Enforcement/Vice Enforcement.

In Service and Sacrifice as well as the series I have two main characters who are police officers. Officers Rose Garland and Sorina Holly. Both of my characters are patrol officers in the Motorized Patrol. They work out of the Eastern District. Their profiles can be seen to the right.
