Book Description

Their jobs are a remarkable campaign of bravery and risk under routine conditions, but when a natural disaster strikes Baltimore their jobs call for them to put their skills to the test and their lives on the line.

They are paramedics, fire fighters, police officers, doctors, and nurses. Following a natural disaster, these emergency workers stand ready to selflessly save the lives of strangers. They don't do it for the money or the glory, they do it out of a sense of duty. As the city of Baltimore enters a time of need, emergency workers stand together as comrades and put their lives on hold to help others. They are doing their jobs.

The Purpose of the Book and Series

One of the major questions I have been asked by readers is why I chose to write about the emergency professions. The answer to this is that I wanted to provide a true and accurate portrayal of the emergency professions.

I realized that, while accurate in some aspects, many television programs and movies do not do justice to the emergency professions. Therefore, I set out to write a book as accurate as possible in it's portrayal of the emergency professions.

In addition, I learned that the women who work in the emergency professions are often overlooked. So I made sure that all the main characters in my story where women so the book would also give representation to the women who work in the emergency professions.

In the course of writing the book I spent many hours researching proper techniques as well as reading countless true stories. In my book and series I hope to portray technical accuracy in an entertaining way. It must also be said that no amount of research can make any book one hundred percent accurate. So any mistakes in accuracy throughout the book or the series are entirely my fault. Also, I have never been to Baltimore in my life so I'm not entirely sure all the building locations are accurate. However, the story is fictional so I take an artistic license when it comes to setting up the locations. I hope anyone who reads my book will forgive me for this slight inaccuracy.

The names of my main characters are the names of my best friends in real life. However, the character personalities are all my own creation. Throughout the following pages you can find links to character profiles that will give you additional information on some of the characters you find in my books.
